Development of remote areas of Surgana to be completed expeditiously by giving priority to water needs: Minister

Nashik, Nov 18 (UNI) The Surgana taluka is a region of record rainfall in Nashik district area. State Water Resources and Beneficiary Area Development Minister Jayant Patil has stated that the work of small scale irrigation and stream diversion schemes for the development of remote areas of Surgana taluka will be completed expeditiously by giving priority to the water needs .
According to an official press note released today, Minister Jayant Patil was talking when he inspected the Shri Bhuvanwater scheme at surgana tehsil on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Jayant Patil said that despite Surgana taluka being the most rain-fed area, the water from here flows to the western sea. So the locals have to travel miles for drinking water. If schemes like small scale irrigation are done in this place, the water problem of the locals will be solved and with the availability of water, schemes like tap water supply can also be started in this area. The remaining water can be diverted to the west once the locals' water problem is resolved. Minister Jayant Patil has said that a full-time independent chief engineer and related agencies will be set up for this work.
The country has been under the control of Corona for the past few months and now the situation is slowly returning to normal. Development work, which is pending soon, can also be started now. As the local farmers understand the importance of water, they have contributed a lot to the development by paying for the construction of their own land. The farmers who have given their lands for the water dam will be rehabilitated and given proper compensation for the land, Minister Patil said this at the time. Farmer Shri. Ramesh Sitaram Gawli was also felicitated by the Minister Jayant Patil.
At this time, the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Narhari Jirwal said that there is little to express appreciation and gratitude to the farmers who provided land for the water project. Also, after the commencement of small scale irrigation projects in these tribal areas, the water crisis of the farmers will be solved and the migration of locals for employment on the Ghats for the remaining eight months after the kharif season will stop; He also hoped that the project would be completed soon and the tribal people would start moving towards sustainable development. Jirwal expressed this at the time.
