The members of a high-level committee of the party, formed to advise Congress President Sonia Gandhi on important issues, met on Tuesday evening and discussed various issues of the organization.
Sources gave this information. The first meeting of this six-member committee, formed under a reshuffle in the party by Sonia Gandhi in August, was held on Tuesday, after a letter written by 23 Congress leaders for radical changes in the party.
The meeting comes two days after Congress leader Kapil Sibal questioned the alleged silence of the party leadership over the defeat in the Bihar elections. Though the official information of this meeting was not done through digital means, sources said that according to the information, the results of the Bihar elections, the current political situation including the upcoming District Development Council elections in Jammu and Kashmir, and other issues were discussed.
Sonia Gandhi and unwell senior party leader Ahmed Patel were not present in the meeting. Leaders present in the meeting included AK Antony, Randeep Surjewala, and Mukul Wasnik.
