Law and order situation of Murshidabad district worsens

Baharampur, Nov 18 (UNI) Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar today pointed out that the law and
order situation of the Murshidabad district has deteriorated.
He said the government is working in favour of a specific political party.
Mr Dhankhar also said that the post of Governor is not merely a rubber stamp, but is of the
protector of the Constitution.
He was disappointed and mentioned that the DGP of State police does not even feel the
need to reply to his letters.
This is wrong and also an insult to the Constitutional Head.
The governor told the media that a few days ago, the Murshidabad district's Sabhadhipati
has informed him that the police protection he was getting since 2018 have been revoked
recently.
He felt it was not right. Any general public deserves protection in the State and it is the
duty of the State Government to provide that.
So he questioned, how can a people's representative and a post holder not get protection?
Mr Dhankhar told that, next time he will come and spend two nights in the district.
He felt political violence is increasing in the district every day.
The governor warned the administrative department and asked the public servants to work in accordance with the Constitution.
He said, it is not his duty to look after the political agendas of the parties or to count their
votes. But to look into whether the general public is able to cast their vote without hindrance
definitely falls under his purview because he is after all a Public Servant.
He will take care of the general mass as long as he will be in the Governor's chair.
