Hyderabad: The BJP has stepped up its corruption allegations against the Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s (KCR) family, for the first time so aggressively since the formation of Telangana, ahead of the urban polls scheduled for Hyderabad.

Not confining to mere allegations, the saffron party also wrote to union home minister Amit Shah seeking probe by the central investigating agencies into the huge wealth allegedly amassed by the Telangana chief minister KCR’s family.

Political analysts view this as an attempt to dent the image of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) aimed at reaping electoral gains in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation polls, touted as a prelude for the next general elections.

The aggressive stand of the saffron party comes close after winning the prestigious by-poll for Dubbaka Assembly in the ruling TRS’ stronghold that was surrounded by the Assembly constituencies represented by CM Rao, his son KT Rama Rao and nephew T Harish Rao.

The BJP also accused the ruling TRS of getting rattled and nervous in announcing on Monday the GHMC polls for December 1 with hardly a week’s time for campaign after nominations and withdrawals.

Senior BJP leader and former Lok Sabha member Gaddam Vivekanand in a letter to union home minister Amit Shah alleged the KCR family and his binamis of making “thousands of crores of assets by looting Telangana public money.”

In a strongly-worded two-page letter last week, the BJP senior leader alleged that the KCR government jacked up the cost of Kaleshwaram large irrigation project to around 1,00,000 crore from around 36,000 crore. Though no water was released to the farmers even after spending 1,00,000 crore on the 2-TMC project, KCR awarded 25,000 crore of contracts for the 3rd TMC without inviting tenders “only to make commissions.”

It is a pity that anyone who comes to power engages in immoral n unethical activities
Unless judicial reforms are in place with very rigorous n tough punishment from a special court for all corruption cases only to executives n government official, there will not be significant improvement
Strictly speaking fear of law is seriously lacking
But who will bell the cat as selfless n honest politicians with high integrity are in minority at state n union level
