The Indian markets opened on a new record high during Tuesday's trading session, with investors maintaining massive bullish sentiment for metal, energy and telecom stocks. Heavyweight RIL, Bharti Airtel and Tata Steel were among the major driving stocks in the opening session.
At around 09.20 am, Sensex was performing at 44,002.29 up 364.31 points or 0.83%. Nifty 50 was trading at 12,865.75 above 85.50 points or 0.67%.
The Sensex has topped to an all-time high of 44,161.16 in early deals, while Nifty 50 saw a record high of over 12,934-level.
Sensex top gainers were -
Tata Steel (+4%), followed by SBI, Bharti Airtel,
HDFC Bank, M&M, Asian Paint, Sun Pharma and RIL surge 2% each.
Major stocks like Maruti Suzuki, IndusInd Bank and
NTPC also gained by 1% each.
However, Sensex losers included stocks like
HCL Tech, Bajaj Auto, ITC, Infosys and TCS, plunging in the range of 0.40-1%.
On sectoral indices, BSE Energy was trading at 6,049.15 up 1.48%, BSE Telecom at 1,178.07 higher by 1.81% and BSE Metal at 9,599.66 above 1.46%.
Stocks that will remain in focus today are - L&T, ONGC, Tata Steel, RIL, BPCL, HDFC AMC, Coal India and NBCC among others.
Companies that are set to announce their September 2020 (Q2FY21) result today are - Advance Lifestyles, ICL Organic Dairy Products, Jagson Airlines, Mohota Industries and Vallabh Steels. These companies will also remain in focus today.
The domestic equities tracked Asian peers which saw upside today tracking the US benchmarks as investors hope was swayed over another promising Covid-19 vaccine.
Japan's Nikkei 225 was up 0.22%, Australia ASX All Ordinaries also higher on similar lines. Hong Kong's Hang Seng was flat, however, in the green. Meanwhile, South Korea's Kospi jumped marginally by 0.12%. Taiwan TSEC 50 Index saw huge buying sentiment, advancing by 1%.
