Chandigarh, November 16

Around 300 sanitation workers went on strike on Monday disrupting sanitation services at the GMCH-32.

The workers held a demonstration on the hospital campus and raised slogans against the administration for suspending their Diwali bonus.

“Patients may get severely infected due to the uncovered waste lying in corridors,” said a doctor.

Om Kailash, chairman of the GMCH-32 Safai Karamchari Union, said the bonus had never been suspended in the past decade. However, it was only three days ago that they were told that the bonus would not be granted.
