The first meeting of the Nitish Kumar-led cabinet in Bihar was held on Tuesday in which it was decided to convene the first session of the newly constituted 17th Assembly and the 196th session of the Legislative Council from 23 November.
Sources said that the meeting also approved authorizing the Chief Minister to approve the format of the Governor's address at the first session of the newly constituted 17th Bihar Legislative Assembly and the 196th session of the Bihar Legislative Council in a session with both the Houses.
At the same time, after the cabinet meeting, Minister in Government Amarendra Pratap Singh told reporters that the cabinet has approved the convening of a five-day assembly session which will start from November 23. When asked why the division of portfolios among ministers was delayed, Singh said it was a matter of jurisdiction of the Chief Minister.
During the assembly session, the newly elected MLAs will be administered oath and a new assembly speaker will also be elected.
Significantly, the 15-member cabinet led by Nitish Kumar took the oath of office and secrecy on Monday.
