Stock market update: Nifty Metal index gains over 2%; Tata Steel leaps nearly 7%

NEW DELHI: Nifty Metal index was trading higher at 11:52AM (IST) on Tuesday.

Shares of Tata Steel (up 6.63 per cent), Welspun Corp (up 6.27 per cent), Ratnamani Metals & Tubes (up 4.61 per cent), Hindustan Copper (up 4.19 per cent) and Jindal Steel & Power (up 4.02 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Hindustan Zinc (down 1.92 per cent) and APL Apollo Tubes (down 0.82 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The Nifty Metal index was trading 2.48 per cent up at 2760.95 around 11:52AM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 44.70 points at 12824.95, while the BSE Sensex was up 160.27 points at 43798.25.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 were trading in the green, while 18 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SBI, Tata Steel and Tata Motors were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Adani Gas Ltd., Astral Poly Tech, Tata Steel, Tata Steel (PP) and Tanla Solutions hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Jump Networks Ltd., Deep Energy Resources Ltd., Vishal Fabrics Ltd., Radaan Mediaworks (I) Ltd., Uniply Industries Ltd., Hindustan Organic Chemicals Ltd. and Sagardeep Alloys Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
