Chandigarh: Sonu Sood gifts phones to 13 slum kids

An actor’s friend in Chandigarh delivered the phones to the students
BATHINDA: A nine-second video clip of small girl students asking for help as they are not able to attend classes for not having a smartphone made Bollywood actor Sonu Sood and his friend Karan Gilhotra reach out to them. In three days of sending a tweet through a video clip, requesting help for the 13 students from a slum area of the border town of Fazilka, they all got smartphones.
Gilhotra, a Chandigarh-based business from Fazilka, delivered the mobile phones to students on Sunday evening. The children study in government schools but are getting coaching from volunteers of NGO Robinhood academy under a shed of municipal committee.
It is not the first that the duo has helped needy persons. During lockdown to stop the spread of Covid, Sonu and Gilhotra had helped many persons by making them reach their destinations. Anand Jain (24), who runs the Fazilka chapter of Robinhood Army and Academy along with many other youngsters, had made the tweet-video clip on November 12. The actor replied to the tweet, writing the mobiles are on the way and will be with you in three days.
