MANGALURU: The
Covid-19 graph of
Dakshina Kannada district continued to show its declining trend in the second week of November too. In the first week of November, the district was reporting an average of 82 fresh cases per day. Meanwhile, compared to the first week, the second week saw a 40% decrease in the number of average fresh cases with 50 per day.
The district that recorded the highest single-day spike of 456 fresh cases of
Covid-19 and 11 deaths on September 18 has not reported more than 100 fresh cases in November except on November 3. While 123 fresh cases were reported on November 3, the number did not cross 100 till November 17. Similarly, on a positive note, the district reported a minimum number of fresh cases with 18 persons testing positive for the virus on November 9.
The district has been conducting an average of 3,500 tests for Covid-19 everyday. As on November 17, the district has collected and tested samples of 3,04,173 persons. While 2,72,834 samples were tested negative, the district has reported 31,339 positive cases as on November 17. While the district has reported 696 deaths, the number of active cases is 681 at present. The district saw 29,962 persons, who were tested positive, discharging from hospitals and home isolation. The first case of
SARS-CoV-2 infection was reported in the district on March 22.
