India registered the lowest daily cases in four months with 30,548 fresh COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours, government data shows. This figure was 25 per cent lower than Sunday's case load. The coronavirus deaths climbed to 1,30,070 with 435 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed. The number of active cases remained below 5 lakh for the sixth consecutive day.
There are 4,65,478 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country as on date which comprise 5.26 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.
The total number of recoveries has surged to 82,49,579, pushing the national recovery rate to 93.27 per cent. The COVID-19 case fatality rate stands at 1.47 per cent.
Meanwhile, Delhi will not be put under another lockdown in the wake of the third wave of COVID-19 since it has already peaked out, state Health Minister Satyendar Jain said on Monday, dismissing all speculation.
"There is no chance of a lockdown," Health Minister Satyendar Jain said today. "I can tell you today that the peak of Delhi's third wave is gone," Mr Jain said. When asked about markets being shut down, he said, "It has not even been considered. The festival is over, the crowds will get thinner now on."

Telangana adds 952 new COVID-19 cases, 3 deaths
Telangana recorded 952 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the tally to nearly 2.59 lakh while three fatalities pushed the number of deaths to 1,410. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 150, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri 77 and Bhadradri Kothagudem 71, a government bulletin said on Tuesday providing details as of 8 pm on November 16.

Pfizer Inc has launched a pilot delivery program for its experimental COVID-19 vaccine in four U.S. states, as the U.S. drugmaker seeks to address distribution challenges facing its ultra-cold storage requirements.
Pfizer's vaccine, which was shown to be more than 90% effective in preventing COVID-19 based on initial data, must be shipped and stored at -70 degrees Celsius (minus 94F), significantly below the standard for vaccines of 2-8 degrees Celsius (36-46F).
Mizoram reports 48 fresh COVID-19 cases, active tally at 524
Forty-eight new cases of the novel coronavirus were recorded in Mizoram in the last 24 hours taking the total cases to 3,444, the state health department reported on Monday.
A total of 2,915 people were discharged in the state, after recovering from the infection. Five deaths have been reported so far due to the deadly virus.
There are 524 active cases of COVID-19 in the state at present, as per the state health department.
Moderna vaccine results 'stunningly impressive,' Anthony Fauci
The United States' top infectious disease official on Monday hailed early results from Moderna's Covid-19 vaccine as "stunningly impressive," calling the result a validation for experimental mRNA technology that some had doubted.
"I had said, and I must admit, that I would have been satisfied with 70, or at the most 75 percent efficacy," he told AFP.
"The idea that we have a 94.5 percent effective vaccine is stunningly impressive. It is really a spectacular result that I don't think anybody had anticipated would be this good."
Bharat Biotech Starts Phase III Trials For COVAXINBharat Biotech announced the commencement of Phase III trials of COVAXIN on Monday.
The Phase III trials will involve 26,000 volunteers across India and will be conducted in partnership with ICMR. It is the largest clinical trial conducted for a COVID-19 vaccine in India.
This is India's first phase 3 efficacy study for a COVID-19 vaccine, and the largest phase III efficacy trial ever conducted in India. The trial has been registered at www.ctri.nic.in (CTRI/2020/11/028976) and approved by the Drugs Controller General of India.
Trial volunteers will receive two intramuscular injections about 28 days apart. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive COVAXIN(tm) or placebo. The trial is double-blinded, such that the investigators, the participants, and the company will not be aware of who is assigned to which group.
Vaccine Will Not Be Enough To Stop Pandemic: WHO ChiefThe head of the World Health Organization said Monday that a vaccine would not by itself stop the coronavirus pandemic.
The pandemic is raging months after it broke out, with infections soaring past 54 million and claiming more than 1.3 million lives.
"A vaccine will complement the other tools we have, not replace them," director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said. "A vaccine on its own will not end the pandemic."
The WHO's figures for Saturday showed that 660,905 coronavirus cases were reported to the UN health agency, setting a new high water mark.
That number, and the 645,410 registered on Friday, surpassed the previous daily record high of 614,013 recorded on November 7.
