Haryana to set up committee for law on 'love jihad'

CHANDIGARH: Haryana home minister, Anil Vij said on Tuesday reiterated that a strict law will be enacted to control ‘love jihad’ cases in the state. A committee will be constituted to draft this law.
The home minister today held the first meeting with higher officials of the department in this regard. During the meeting, it was decided that a discussion will also be held with CM, Manohar Lal Khattar.
The home minister said that with the enactment of this law, strict action will be taken against any person who is found in religious conversion by pressuring, tempting someone or is involved in any kind of conspiracy or try to do so in the name of love.
Vij said that Haryana will also study the laws made by other states on the same subject. The home department, advocate general and other concerned officers will also be included in this committee.
Additional chief secretary, home department Rajeev Arora, director general of police, Manoj Yadav, additional director general of police CID, Alok Mittal, additional director-general of police, law and order, Navdeep Singh Virk and other officers were present in the meeting.
