Patiala: Gold, money robbed at gunpoint in house in Nabha

PATIALA: Some unidentified robbers on a gunpoint robbed a family in the house in Nabha and fled away with cash amounting to Rs 2.35 lakh and 250 gm gold. The incident took place in the wee hours on Tuesday at around 6 am, revealed police.
The police claimed that the victim's family is living in Chatthe village, around 20 km away from Nabha town of Patiala district. The police said that the case was registered on the complaint of Balwant Singh who was already bedridden following his leg fractured in an accident.
The police said that the house of Balwant Singh is situated near the agricultural fields and at a distance from other houses in the village and robbers took benefit of this situation.
According to the police, the robbers seemed to have information about Balwant and his wife, both in the late fifties, was living alone in the house as their daughter and son had been living in abroad from the past few years.
The police revealed that the robbers entered the house and held both Balwant and his wife captive in the house however later their servant entered the house after completing some work in the agricultural fields but the robbers immediately pounced on him and tied him with ropes. One of the armed robbers had put the gunpoint on the head of Balwinder’s wife and threatened to shoot if they screamed for help.
“We have registered the case under sections of IPC including robbery and under sections of Arms Act. The police teams have been formed and barriers have been installed to nab the accused. According to the complainant, there were four robbers and one of them had a pistol. They allegedly looted cash and gold from the house and fled away”, said station house officer Sadar Nabha police station.
