NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that there is a need to ensure that the countries supporting terrorism must be held accountable.
Addressing the 12th Brics summits via video conferencing, PM Modi said that the terrorism is the biggest challenge the world is facing and the problem must be tackled in an organised manner.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa also participated in the summit, hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Terrorism is the biggest challenge world is facing. There is a need to ensure that countries supporting terrorism must be held accountable. We need to tackle problem of terrorism with coordinated approach," Modi said.
During his address, the Prime Minister also pointed out the need to reforms of United Nations Security Council and organisations like the World Trade Organisation and the International Monetary Fund.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the reform process under the government's 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' campaign.
"We have started a comprehensive reform process under the 'Self-reliant India' campaign. The campaign is based on the belief that a self-reliant and resilient India post-Covid can be a force multiplier for the global economy and make a strong contribution to the global value chains," he said.
