Spicejet touched Pakyong Airport after almost 17 months

Pakyong, 17 Nov : India’s and possibly the world’s most beautiful airport located 33 Kms from capital Gangtok amid beautiful scenic District Pakyong Hill was disconnected aerially since start of June 2019 due to technical reasons then was mentioned earlier by Spicejet in official release. Major issues that was causing bottleneck was non-payment of compensations to the landowners on upper portion of runway however which is already settled and reportedly the runway guage has also been caved.
Almost after 17 months today Spicejet commercial flight touched down at airport around 12:10 PM, in this regard detail is awaited from Airport part as what could be the reason behind the visit.

Spicejet Aircraft (Q-400 Bombardier) finally done flight trials of RNP (Required Navigation Performance) procedure here at Pakyong Airport, In order to assist the Aircraft to execute and Intrument approach to non-intrument runway which was designed by AAI and approved by DGCA, Government of India, especially for Pakyong Airport as per ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) Aeronautical Survey recommendation.
Flight Operations is expected to resume by 2021 January last week.
