Kidney transplant between incompatible blood groups successful

Mysuru: A rare form of kidney transplant between non matching blood groups (ABO incompatible) was performed successfully at the renal transplant unit of Sigma Hospital in Mysuru.
This procedure has given a new lease of life to a 32-year-old woman who was undergoing dialysis treatment for kidney failure in the hospital for the last six months.
According to a press release, chief nephrologist of the hospital Dr Vipin Kaverappa stated that this procedure is a boon to patients with kidney failure as they struggle to find compatible donors.
