Western Australia-based IT services firm NEXION Group has signed a deal with California-based Aryaka which it says will help establish Perth as a pivotal global SD-WAN city and get it ready for widespread adoption of secure cloud solutions nationally,

A statement from NEXION said Perth would now be connected to Aryaka's 40-plus PoPs through its data centre, meaning that it would not need to connect to global sites through the existing Sydney PoP.

As part of the deal, NEXION will sell Aryaka's proprietary SD-WAN connectivity and delivery software alongside its OneCloud nodes in Australia.

The NEXION Group provides solutions such as public, private and hybrid cloud, a global security fabric, networking and a data centre.

The company said it would extend its hybrid cloud solutions in WA and also extend them to Victoria and South Australia, concentrating on supporting companies which were in the resources, mining services and agribusiness sectors, as as government.

NEXION Group chief executive Paul Glass said the partnership with Aryaka – the world’s largest independent managed WAN provider – would be instrumental to further cloud adoption in Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide.

“This is an exciting time for Aryaka to be investing in the local market with high-quality SD-WAN links critical to shifting Australian customers from existing ‘legacy’ networks,” he said.

“NEXION is one of Australia’s fastest growing tech companies and with our own local data centre and now a dedicated Aryaka PoP added to our OneCloud solution, we are uniquely placed to drive rapid local adoption of this secure global connection solution.

“Global companies can now remove costly MPLS links to global sites and embrace the myriad benefits associated with cloud-first WAN global leader Aryaka.

“Aryaka’s continued global success and its focus on widespread PoPs will form the bedrock of NEXION’s ability to expand secure, high quality cloud solutions at a local level.”

Aryaka managing director Australia and New Zealand Paul Thompson said: “Partnering with NEXION is very valuable to us and for customers searching for a viable alternative to legacy network technologies.

“The collaboration enhances our go-to-market motion and reach in the Australia and New Zealand region immensely.”

Thompson said choice of connectivity was combined with a comprehensive set of cloud-first services ranging from application acceleration, cloud networking and integrated security with a single management interface.

“Aryaka’s global network has become the number one option for globally distributed enterprises embarking on a digital transformation journey and looking to support the fast, cost-effective and efficient delivery of essential business applications,” he said.

“Through this agreement we will add further value to global enterprises with presence in Australia and New Zealand.”

Now’s the Time for 400G Migration

The optical fibre community is anxiously awaiting the benefits that 400G capacity per wavelength will bring to existing and future fibre optic networks.

Nearly every business wants to leverage the latest in digital offerings to remain competitive in their respective markets and to provide support for fast and ever-increasing demands for data capacity. 400G is the answer.

Initial challenges are associated with supporting such project and upgrades to fulfil the promise of higher-capacity transport.

The foundation of optical networking infrastructure includes coherent optical transceivers and digital signal processing (DSP), mux/demux, ROADM, and optical amplifiers, all of which must be able to support 400G capacity.

With today’s proprietary power-hungry and high cost transceivers and DSP, how is migration to 400G networks going to be a viable option?

PacketLight's next-generation standardised solutions may be the answer. Click below to read the full article.
