New Delhi, November 15

To deal with the recent spike in Covid cases in Delhi, the Centre on Sunday said it would soon make available 300 additional ICU beds and double the number of daily RTPCR tests in the Capital.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said some of the hospitals under the municipal corporations of Delhi would be converted into dedicated Covid hospitals and doctors and paramedics of paramilitary forces would be deployed to deal with the shortage of manpower.

Shah said the Centre would also provide oxygen, high flow nasal cannula and other health equipment to Delhi. The decisions were taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Shah and attended by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan among others.

Shah said daily RTPCR tests in Delhi would be doubled and the capacity of the testing laboratories would be enhanced. — PTI
