The Karnataka minister for Cooperation, S T Somasekhar has informed that the Central Government has sanctioned an amount of 1700 crore rupees under Special Liquidity Facility. This amount was released by NABARD to the District Cooperative Banks in the state to provide loans to the farmers in distress due to the pandemic.
Speaking to media persons in Davangere today, the minister said that they have a target to distribute loans of 15,300 crore rupees to 24 lakh farmers in this year. Till date, he added, 10,000 crore rupees credit is extended to 15 lakh farmers.
Saying that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led NDA government had announced a package of 20 lakh crore rupees under Atma Nirbhar Yojana, he informed that Karnataka has received 4750 crore rupees under the financial package. He further added that an additional assistance of 600 crore rupees is sought by the state for meeting the demands of farmers through the cooperative sector.
