Child’s bike recovered following theft in Newmarket – Update

York police investigators with the #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau would like to thank the community and media after tips were received that led to an arrest and the recovery of a child’s bike that had been stolen in the Town of Newmarket.

On Saturday, October 10, 2020, shortly before 5 a.m., two suspects entered the garage of a residence on College Manor Drive. Each of the suspects stole a bicycle. One of the bikes was a children’s Schwinn mountain bike that had just been given to a nine-year-old boy for his birthday the day before.

On Thursday, November 12, 2020, investigators arrested one of the suspects and recovered the stolen Schwinn mountain bike. The bike was returned to the nine-year-old boy.

William NODELMAN, 18, Town of Newmarket was charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

Investigators had released a picture of one of the stolen bikes, along with images of the suspects obtained from residential video surveillance. They appealed to anyone with information that may assist with the recovery of the stolen bike, or the identification of either of the suspects.

The investigation is ongoing.
