ED forcing to take names of political leaders, says Sivasankar in court

ED forcing to take names of political leaders, says Sivasankar in court

Kochi, Nov 16 (UNI) Suspended Kerala bureaucrat M Sivasankar on Monday levelled serious allegations against the Enforcement Directorate which has arrested him in

a case relating to the diplomatic baggage gold smuggling scam.

Sivasankar told the Principal Sessions Court here that he was arrested by ED as he

refused to name political leaders in the case despite the central agency pressuring

him to do so.

Sivasankar made the allegations in a note submitted to the court which is scheduled

to hear his bail plea on Tuesday.

Sivasankar, who was removed from the post of principal secretary to the chief minister,

said the ongoing investigation has been politically motivated. "I have no link to the crimes

charged against me. As I didn't obey, they arrested me", he said.

He submitted copies of the Whatsapp chat between his chartered accountant Venugopal

and gold smuggling accused Swapna Suresh.

Sivasankar said he had not called any Customs official to release the diplomatic

baggage containing the gold.
