New Delhi, Nov 16 (UNI) Delhi's air pollution levels have improved significantly from "severe" to "poor" after Sunday evening's showers and favourable wind with its Air Quality Index (AQI) being recorded at 300 at 0900 hrs on Monday, Central Pollution of Control Board (CPCB) report stated.
According to CPCB data at 1200 hrs, AQI stands at 277 in Anand Vihar, 212 in Chandini Chowk, 279 at Dwarka, 280 in Rohini and 342 at ITO. Meanwhile, in Delhi NCR region, Greater Noida has recorded its AQI at 264, Noida at 265, Gurugram at 351, and Faridabad at 288.
Delhi’s air quality had turned ‘severe’ on Saturday post-Diwali celebrations and deteriorated even more till Sunday morning. It's AQI yesterday evening stood at 467. However, with mild rainfall later in the day, the air pollution levels in Delhi saw a dip.
This Diwali Delhi witnessed a pollution level higher than in 2019.
According to health experts, this combination of bad air quality so and COVID-19 cases is a matter of concern for the Delhiites.
The national capital is recording over 7,000 fresh coronavirus cases on a daily basis, making it one of the fastest-growing cities in the country with more than 4 lakh cases.
