On behalf of JMM party's general secretary, cum spokesperson Binod Kumar Pandey met the Chief Minister and handed him a letter urging him to do a relook over the guidelines.
Through the letter, the party has said that under the leadership of the Chief Minister the state has been very effectively battling Coronavirus and even the citizens of the state have stood with the guidelines of the government.
In the letter, it was said that in past 7 months since the outbreak of Covid-19 all major festivals including Sarhul, Ramnavmi, Eid, Independence Day, Karma, Durga Puja, Kali Puja have been celebrated by the people as per the guidelines of the people.
The party said that Chhath was a festival of great belief of the Hindus and has a special place in the people of Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The four-day festival which starts with 'Nahai-Khay' concludes with an offering of Arghya to the rising sun, therefore in wake of the huge significance of the festival among the Hindu community, there was a need to reconsider the guidelines. The party demanded that a limited number of devotees should be allowed to go to the river banks to observe the festival.
