MUMBAI: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co Ltd (MSEDCL) has unpaid electricity bills since June to the tune of Rs 7,154 crore, sources disclosed on Sunday.
The consumers found the bills to be “hefty” and are awaiting a relief package from the state. The arrears from residential and low-end consumers amount to around Rs 5,089 crore. The high-end consumers need to pay Rs 947 crore.
Officials will have to explain why the bills were so high during the lockdown months. MSEDCL will organise camps and offer instalment facilities to those with huge arrears.
