Pune metropolitan region adds 329 patients, 353 recover from contagion

PUNE: Seven people succumbed to Covid-19 on Sunday, which was the lowest in at least five months in the Pune Metropolitan Region.

Sunday’s toll was the least since at least June 21, when eight people had died of the infection. On Thursday too, eight people had succumbed.
Meanwhile, the number of people testing positive continued to drop, with 329 fresh infections reported till 9pm on Sunday, according to a report by the district health officer.
In the same 24-hour window, 353 patients had recovered, taking the total number of discharged people in the region to 3,14,072.
On the other hand, the region’s progressive tally (the number of people who tested positive since the first case was reported in March) climbed to 3,31,418.
The Pune Municipal Corporation areas reported 153 fresh cases on Sunday, followed by Pimpri Chinchwad, with 91. The rural areas (59), municipal council limits (19) and cantonments (7) together had 85 new cases.
Pune also reported the highest number of recoveries in the region with 222 discharged patients. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation limits had 81recoveries, while 30 people were discharged in the rural areas. Nineteen people recovered in areas under municipal councils, while one person recovered across all three cantonments.
As of Sunday, there were a total of 9,340 active cases in the region — 4,003 patients were being treated in hospitals, while 5,337 people were under home quarantine.
According to a report issued by PMC, the areas under its jurisdiction had 939 patients being treated on beds with oxygen support; 349 patients were in a critical condition, with 227 of them on ventilator support.
