Kolkata, Nov 16 (UNI) The total active Covid cases in Bengal decreased further on Sunday
as the recovery rate continued to grow, with the number of discharged persons also
increasing steadily.
According to the latest State Government Health bulletin, the active cases accounted for
29,314, while the number of discharged cases stood at 3,94,576.
The percentage of discharged rose to 91.43 per cent.
The COVID-19 toll in the state rose to 7,661 with the death of 51 persons on Sunday,
while the total cases tally touched 4,31,551 with 3,053 new confirmed cases.
The bulletin said the total number of samples tested stood at 52,18,797 with 38,658
tested in the past 24 hours.
While the city recorded the highest number of 2421 deaths so far, surrounding districts
of North 24 Parganas and Howrah came second and third respectively with 1780 and 809
fatalities.
South 24 Parganas accounted for 511 deaths, the toll in Hooghly stood at 369, Darjeeling
157, Paschim and Purba Midnapore 238 and 217 respectively, Malda 92, Murshidabad 108,
Nadia 193, Paschim Bardhaman 113, Purba Bardhaman 78, Jalpaiguri 111, Uttar Dinajpur 55,
Dakshin Dinajpur 55, Birbhum 64, Alipurduar 80, Kalimpong 19, Cooch Behar 57, Purulia 34,
Jhargram 13 and Bankura 84.
