
Guwahati: Last rite of havildar Hardhan Chandra Roy was done with full military honour.
Roy who is from Assam was martyred in the unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. His last rites were performed on the banks of the Gauranga river at his village – Futukibari-Medhipara of Dhubri district.
Havildar Roy had joined the army in 2001. He left behind his parents, wife and a two-year-old son.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday announced financial assistance of Rs 20 lakh for Roy’s family.
