Democrat Jon Ossoff held an outdoor drive-in rally in an Augusta, Ga., parking lot Friday with more than 200 people, nearly all of whom were wearing masks and amply socially distanced. In an exclusive interview with Yahoo News, Ossoff spoke about the contrast of the Republican Senate candidates and their packed indoor rallies that put everyone in attendance at risk of COVID-19.

JON OSSOFF: Senator Purdue and Senator Loeffler, they had a rally, and they packed everybody into this little tiny room, as if we're not in the middle of a pandemic. And throughout this entire crisis, they have downplayed the risk, they've lied to the public about the severity of the virus, and they've undermined doctors, and scientists, and public health guidelines.
The only way out of this crisis is to trust and empower medical experts and apply their expertise to contain the virus, and to invest robustly in economic recovery. And that's the message that I'm taking on this statewide tour. We've been in six cities in four days, going directly to the people, but also doing it in a way that protects public health, to keep people safe and to set the right example.
