Telangana records 661 COVID-19 cases

Hyderabad, Nov 15 (UNI) The daily count of positive cases in Telangana dropped to below 1,000 with the state, registering 661 COVID-19 cases till 2000 hours on Saturday taking the total caseload to 2,57,374 so far.

The drop in the positive cases was due to a dip in tests owing to Deepavali holiday.

With the state reporting three more COVID-19 deaths in the past 24 hours, the overall number of COVID-19 deaths rose to 1,404 translated into a case fatality rate of 0.54 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.5 per cent, according to a state health department bulletin on Sunday.

As many as 1,637 patients have recovered from coronavirus between Friday and Saturday pushing the total recoveries in the state till date to 2,40,545 constituting a recovery rate of 93.46 per cent while the national recovery rate was 93.1 per cent.

The number of active cases in the state now stood at 15,425 including 12,899 patients in home or institutional isolation.

In all 21,264 samples were examined to detect the contagious coronavirus during the last 24 hours out of which the results of 457 swab samples were awaited.

More than 48.74 lakhs COVID-19 tests were conducted in the state so far since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the bulletin said.

Among the districts, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation remained the top contributor of positive cases by registering 167 fresh coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, while the day's remaining cases were reported by other districts, the bulletin added.
