The Big Ten's role in the College Football Playoff discussion took center stage on Saturday, with Wisconsin's dominating win over Michigan impacting not only the Badgers' postseason hopes but those of multiple members of the conference. Those shifts occurred ahead of what will be a critical week of play in the B1G.

Wisconsin's 49-11 victory over Michigan increased the Badgers' chances of reaching their first College Football Playoff -- per the Allstate Playoff Predictor -- from 40.6% to 54.9%. Wisconsin's chances of winning the CFP increased from 8.6% to 17.5% with the win, when factoring in other results from around the country.

The outcome had a material impact on fellow Big Ten members Ohio State and Indiana -- which are scheduled to meet in Columbus this Saturday -- as well.

OSU, which was idle after its scheduled game with Maryland was canceled because of coronavirus concerns, saw its chances to reach the CFP drop from 73.6% to 61.4%, and its chance of winning the title drop from 27.2% to 21.2%.

Indiana, despite a dominant victory over Michigan State, saw its CFP chances drop from 3.3% to 1.6% and its chances of winning the title drop from 0.2% to 0.1%.

Also monitoring these developments was Northwestern, which moved to 4-0 with a win over Purdue. The Wildcats -- who will host Wisconsin this week -- increased their CFP chances from 2.2% to 3.3%, and stand to make a major leap if they can upend the Badgers in Evanston on Saturday.
