Veteran Congress leader Ahmed Patel admitted to ICU weeks after contracting COVID-19

On hearing Ahmed Patel being admitted to ICU, congress leaders including Anand Sharma and Shashi Tharoor wished the 71-year-old speedy recovery.

Veteran Congress leader Ahmed Patel on Sunday, November 15 was admitted to ICU in Medanta Hospital, Gurugram confirmed his family members. Notably, the senior leader had tested positive for COVID-19 on October 1.

Ahmed Patel's son Faisal Patel took to Twitter and said that the condition of the Rajya Sabha MP is stable and he continues to be under medical observation.

"On behalf of his family, we would like to share that Shri Ahmed Patel had tested positive for Covid19 a few weeks ago. He has now been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Medanta Hospital, Gurgaon for further treatment. His condition is stable and he continues to be under medical observation...We request you to pray for his speedy recovery," Faisal Patel tweeted.

On hearing Ahmed Patel being admitted to ICU, congress leaders including Anand Sharma and Shashi Tharoor wished the 71-year-old speedy recovery.

Senior Congress leader Anand Sharma tweeted, "Deeply concerned and praying for the good health of my friend and comrade Ahmed Patel. Please join us in praying for his early recovery."

While Shashi Tharoor hailed Ahmed Patel as an "extraordinary figure in Indian politics" and wished him a speedy recovery.

Earlier on Sunday, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh tested positive for COVID-19.

He took to Twitter to inform that he had tested positive for COVID-19 and requested those who came in contact with him to get tested for the virus.
