The fire control room was reinforced with more personnel to immediately attend distress calls and rush the fire tenders to the spot. “As part of preparedness, fire tenders were stationed at different places in the city to be able to rush to the spot in case of the distress call. In all, 30 fire incidents mostly small in nature, were reported in the city on Saturday night,” said a senior fire official.
Of the complaints received, 15 incidents pertained to garbage dumps/bins catching fire due to fire crackers bursting. “To prevent the spread of the fire, small vehicles were dispatched to the spot and immediately the fire was doused,” said the official.
