CM Biren tested Covid positive, 235 new cases

Imphal, Nov 15 (UNI) Chief Minister N Biren Singh was found Covid positive today.

Biren said in post in a social network site that he had headache and cough so he was tested.

The result was positive hence all those who were in touch with him recently should get themselves tested he said.

In the past twenty-four hours, 213 persons (109M, 104F) from the general population and 22 personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID I9 positive cases.

The positive persons were tested at JNIMS (62), RIMS (17), Imphal East (1), Imphal West (55), Maipakpi (2), Escent Diagnostics (5), Raj Medicity (12), Hillside (3), Advance Hospital (2), Jivan Hospital (1), Thoubal (12), Bishnupur (12), Tamenglong (6), Kangpokpi (1). Churachandpur (14), Senapati (3), Chandel (1), Jiribam (1), Tengnoupal (5) and Babina Diagnostics (20).

The positive cases from the general population were from Imphal West (83), Imphal East (73), Thoubal (17), Bishnupur (14), Kakching (2), Ukhrul (3), Tamenglong (8), Churachandpur (2), Kangpokpi (1), Tengnoupal (5), Chandel (1), Jiribam (1) and Senapati (3). All were locals without any significant travel history. They were being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like

containment and contact tracing were in place.

In the last 24 hours, three persons aged 70 yrs (male, Thoubal), 73 yrs (male, Thoubal) and 60 yrs (male, Imphal West) expired at Raj Medicity, Shija Hospital and JNIMS Hospital respectively. The cumulative number of deaths was 221.

The total number of discharged persons was 259. They were from CAPF (21), Home Isolation (117), RIMS (24), JNIMS (8), LKK (30), UNACCO (21), LANVA (5), PR Kakching (3), Bal Bhavan (1), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (10), Noney (1), Kangpokpi (7).

Lamding (1), Kamjong (3), Moreh (2) and Tamenglong (4).

The cumulative number of positive cases was 21,871 (General Population - 18,963 and Central Security Personnel 2.908). The cumulative number of recovered cases was 18,593 (General Population 15,941 and Central Security Personnel 2,652). The cumulative number of active cases was 3,057 (General Population - 2,805 and CentralSecurity Personnel -252).

The recovery rate was 85.01 pc.
