After Johnny Depp and Warner Bros Studios released a statement of the actor being 'asked to resign' from Fantastic Beasts, Jude Law has reacted to it. For the uninitiated, Johnny Depp released a statement on his Instagram page that amid the wife-beater case against ex-wife Amber Heard, he was asked to step down from his role as Gellert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts franchise. Now, during an interaction with Entertainment Weekly, Law called it an 'unusual' decision.

Jude stated, "It was unusual for me because, in fact, on this particular role, Johnny had actually only done a day's filming, I think, on his own. And in a situation like this, you defer to the studio. That's all you can do. Because you have to turn up and play your part."

Talking about Depp's statement, it read as " wish to let you know that I have been asked to resign by Warner Bros. from my role as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts and I have respected and agreed to that request."

While Warner Bros stated, "Johnny Depp will depart the Fantastic Beasts franchise. We thank Johnny for his work on the films to date. Fantastic Beasts 3 is currently in production, and the role of Gellert Grindelwald will be recast. The film will debut in theatres worldwide in the summer of 2022."

Depp first played Grindelwald in 2016's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, taking over from Colin Farrell in the final scene. He reprised the part in 2018's Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and was set to start shooting for the third part next year.
