Ulfa(I) finds new dy chief, sends message

GUWAHATI: Less than 24 hours after his long-time deputy Drishti Rajkhowa alias Monoj Rabha surrendered, Ulfa-I commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah announced that Michael ‘Asom’ Dekaphukan would take his place.
"This quick move is to make a statement to the security forces that Drishti’s exit has not crippled the outfit," a source in the security establishment said.
Dekaphukan, alias Joy Chandra Das, hails from Amlaga village in Sonitpur district and is in charge of the outfit’s camp in Myanmar’s Sagaing division.
Drishti, who formally laid down arms at the Army’s 21 Division headquarters at Rangiya on Thursday, is currently in Assam police’s custody.
