Jawahar Lal Nehru was born on November 14, 1889, in Allahabad to Pandit Motilal Nehru and Swarup Rani. Nehru was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's ideology and joined the freedom struggle. Jawaharlal Nehru was first imprisoned in 1929. Fondly known as Chacha Nehru, he was the first prime minister of India and remains the longest serving PM of the country.
