Chandigarh: A youth has been arrested for committing a theft at a booth in Sector 16. According to the police, the complainant, Braham Parkash, reported that the suspect, identified as Shankar (20), a resident of Sector 20, entered the booth of Umeed Society in front of the Rock Garden on the intervening night of November 11 and 12. A case was registered against the suspect at the Sector 17 police station. TNS

Mani Majra man held for cheating

Chandigarh: A Mani Majra resident has been arrested for cheating. According to the police, the complainant, Surinder of Sector 45, alleged that he had given Rs28 lakh as earnest money to Mam Chand, the suspect, to purchase a booth at motor market in Mani Majra in 2019. However, the complainant later came to know that Mam Chand had taken loan against the property. A case under Section 420 of the IPC has been registered at the Mani Majra police station. The police have initiated an investigation into it. TNS
