So far, India has recorded 87,28,795 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 1,28,668 deaths. A total of 81,15,580 people have recuperated from COVID-19 so far. There are 4,84,547 active cases in the country as of date, which comprises 5.55 percent of the total caseload, the data stated. Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have reported the highest number of cases. However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Yet, India’s recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 92.97 percent. 'Unlock 6.0' is underway. Delhi recorded 7,802 fresh COVID-19 cases in a day taking the infection tally in the national capital to over 4.74 lakh yesterday, while 91 more fatalities in a same period pushed the death toll to 7,423, authorities said. These fresh coronavirus cases were detected from 56,553 tests conducted the previous day. Delhi recorded a positivity rate of 13.80 percent amid the festive season and rising pollution in the city, according to the bulletin issued by the health department. The national capital had recorded its highest single-day spike of 8,593 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. On Thursday, 104 fatalities, the highest in a day in over five months, were recorded. The city had registered 93 deaths on June 16. Yesterday, authorities reported 91 more fatalities. (PTI)

More than 130 US Secret Service officers assigned to protect President Donald Trump have been sidelined by COVID-19, the Washington Post has reported as the novel coronavirus outbreak spread at the White House. A US government source familiar with the situation confirmed that numerous Secret Service officers had gone into quarantine but did not provide a specific number. Not all those in quarantine had tested positive for COVID-19, the source said. The Post did not say how many officers tested positive for the virus versus those who had to isolate because of close contact with an infected co-worker. It said about 10% of the core security team had been sidelined. (Reuters)

As many as 239 patients recovered from the disease on the day, pushing the total number of recoveries to 21,824. Twenty-two people have migrated out of the state, it said. (PTI)

Bihar's COVID-19 tally rose to 2,26,080 as 581 more people tested positive for the infection, while seven fresh fatalities pushed the death toll to 1,174, according to a health department bulletin. At least 870 people were cured of the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 2,18,828, it said. The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the state currently stands at 96.79 percent, up marginally from 96.66 percent on Thursday. (PTI)
