Lucknow, Nov 14 (UNI) With Union Home Ministry and even WHO appreciating the effort of the Uttar Pradesh government to control spread of Covid 19 in the state, the state government has increased the sample testing and contact tracing in NCR after surge of new patients in Delhi and Haryana.
However, on Saturday, the number of fresh Covid 19 cases in UP was 2361 and total going up to 5,09,903 with 4,79,182 recovering with around 94 per cent recovery rate. Of the recovered patients 2002 were released today.
Additional chief secretary, information, Navneet Sehgal said here on Saturday that union home ministry has appreciated the efforts of the state government in controlling the spread of Coronavirus in NCR when the positivity rate in Delhi has gone up to 13 per cent and in Haryana to 14 per cent.
"The positivity rate in Gautam Buddha Nagar is highest in UP with 6 per cent while the average positivity rate in the state is just 1.2 per cent," he said while announcing that the sample testing along with contact tracing has been enhanced in NCR.
On the other hand, the UP health department officials are elated over the appreciation of WHO on the contact tracing system of the state and it has been mentioned in their website.
"Around 70,000 health workers are working round the clock for surveillance and contact tracing, which has given the state an edge against others," Mr Sehgel claimed.
Meanwhile, on Friday, the total sample tests were 1,25,578 and thus taking the total of 1,69,67,468 tests.
On Saturday, Lucknow continue to become largest hotspot with 394 fresh cases followed by 237 in Meerut, 191 in Gautam Buddha Nagar and 113 in Ghaziabad.
