LUCKNOW: A statewide alert has been sounded in UP, with special focus on markets, in the wake of festivity. The alert will remain in effect till November 16.
DGP HC Awasthy has directed district police chiefs to ensure surveillance in markets to check any criminal activity during the festive season. Awasthy has ordered that patrolling must be stepped up at bus and railway stations. District police chiefs will instruct digital volunteers’ teams to monitor posts on social media and take action against inflammatory posts.
All police stations have been asked to identify troublemakers in their areas and take preventive steps. Police response vehicles will be deployed at important points. Lucknow Joint Commissioner of police, law and order, Naveen Arora said over 1500 cops have been deployed in the city while small units of cops are conducting checking in various markets.
