New Delhi: The finance ministry will take suggestions from the general public for the forthcoming Union Budget 2021-22 through an online portal which will go live on November 15.
“It has been decided to make the Annual Budget 2021-22 consultations more participatory and democratic by taking it closer to the people of India,” the finance ministry said in a statement Friday.
The proposals or suggestions will be taken through a micro-site on MyGov platform which will go live on Sunday, and will remain open till the month-end.
The ideas or suggestions received for the budget will be further examined by the concerned ministries or departments.
“General public in their individual capacity need to register on MyGov to submit their ideas for Budget 2021-22. If required, individuals may be contacted on the email/mobile no. provided at the time of registration to seek clarification on their submissions,” the ministry said.
The government had sought inputs from the general public in last year’s Union Budget as well, but it will be the first time that these suggestions are being sought alongside those from the industry and trade bodies. For the Union Budget 2019-20 suggestions from the general public were sought out after representations from industry bodies were reviewed.
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the ministry will create a dedicated email address for receiving suggestions from industry associations, institutions, trade bodies and experts for the Union Budget 2021-22, as opposed to holding in-person meetings in North Block which was the norm till date.
“Owing to the pandemic situation, the Ministry has received suggestions from various quarters for holding pre-budget consultations in a different format. It has accordingly been decided to create a dedicated email to receive suggestions from various institutions or experts. A specific communication to this effect will be sent shortly,” the finance ministry added.
