
Amritsar: The district reported the death of a person due to the Covid-19 disease on Thursday, pushing the death toll to 471. The victim has been identified as 64-year-old Kailash Sharma, a woman from Ranjitpura area in Chheharta. The district health authorities also reported 44 new positive cases taking the total count of positive cases to 12,186. The new cases include 32 influenza-like illness cases and 12 contacts of positive patients. Meanwhile, with the recovery of 15 patients, the total count of cured patients has reached 11,383. Bhog of veteran Akali leader held
Tarn Taran: Veteran Akali leader Major Singh Uboke, former Cabinet minister and ex-Lok Sabha member, was paid rich tributes by party leaders and others here on Thursday. Major Singh Uboke (93) passed away on November 3 after a brief illness. The bhog of Akhand Path followed by a kirtan and antim ardas was held for the peace of the departed soul. Former MP

Lt Gen visits ECHS in Tarn Taran
Amritsar: Lieutenant General Sanjeev Sharma, General Officer Commanding, Vajra Corps, inspected Ex-Serviceman Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) polyclinic and ex-servicemen canteen located here today. Numerous initiatives were taken to include provision of medicine, medical equipment and staff for marked improvement in the ECHS polyclinic. The ECHS has been undertaken by Vajra Corps, recently. A series of renovation work has also been carried out in the ex-servicemen canteen to facilitate them. Undertrial gives police a slip
Tarn Taran: An undertrial escaped from police custody in Patti here on Wednesday. The accused had been identified as Sajjan Singh of Khalra who was booked by Khalra police. Sajjan Singh and constable Sukhkamal Deep Singh have been booked under Sections 222 and 223 of the IPC. Constable Sukhkamal Deep Singh has been arrested for negligence. The police said the constable posted at the Patti sub-jail had brought the accused for his appearance in a court in Patti when he managed to free himself from the handcuffs and escaped. OC
