GHAZIABAD: A resident of Sadarpur village in Noida has alleged that a couple living in her neighbourhood forcefully confined her 14-year-old daughter in their house and is forcing her to do domestic work despite her objections.
The woman claimed that the couple has also been molesting the girl and has threatened them with dire consequences if they go to the cops. The woman told police that in February this year, the couple had lured her daughter to their house with the promise of good food and a better life, including watching television, in exchange of helping them with some domestic chores. “However, when we asked them to send her back, they refused. Since then, they have confined her in their house and also abused us when we tried to get her back,” she told police.
She added that they are even molesting their daughter. “When we went there, the couple, and their relatives, assaulted and threatened us with dire consequences,” she said, adding that they didn’t let them meet their daughter and she is concerned about her safety.
Meanwhile, Azad Singh Tomar, station house officer of Sector 39 police station, said that on the basis of a complaint, an FIR was registered on Wednesday against the couple under sections 354 (molestation) and 363 (kidnaping) of the IPC and other relevant sections of the Labour Act. “We are investigating the allegations and will make arrests soon,” he said.
