Ambala records increase in Covid-19 cases; 55 fresh cases, 25 discharged

AMBALA: In the last few days, Ambala district has recorded a sudden increase in the number of Covid-19 cases told the health officials on Friday.
The Ambala district reported 55 fresh positive cases of Covid-19 on Friday. The total case tally now reached 9,387 including 193 active cases, said civil surgeon Kuldeep Singh.
Dr Singh said Ambala city reported 19 cases, followed by Ambala Cantt (13), Barara (8), Chourmastpur (7), Naraingarh (5) and Shahzadpur (3).
As many as 25 patients were discharged, taking the recovery count to 9,078 with the recovery rate of 96.71%, he said.
He added that a total of 116 deaths have been reported in the district so far with the mortality rate of 1.22% and the case doubling rate is 175 days.
“So far, we have collected 1,22,410 samples for Covid-19 testing in Ambala, of which, 91,154 are RT-PCR samples and 31,256 are antigen testing kit samples. In Ambala, we have collected 1,08,520 samples per 10 lakh population, said Dr Singh.
Dr Kuldeep said, “It has come to notice that traders and shopkeepers are flouting the Covid-19 guidelines. Therefore, a warning has been issued that those traders who will violate the norms repeatedly, their business establishments would be closed for an indefinite period of time.”
