UP: Body of journalist found in Unnao

Unnao, Nov 13 (UNI) Body of a journalist associated with a Hindi daily was recovered from a railway track, police said on Friday.

The family has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against a woman constable, another policeman and an unidentified person.

Police here said that the body of journalist Sooraj Pandey was recovered from a railway track near a liquor mill in the Sadar Kotwali area on Thursday night. The body was later sent for autopsy.

The family has accused woman constable Sunita Chaurasia and constable Amar Singh of a conspiracy and alleged that they murdered the journalist and disposed off his body at the railway track.

A case against the two identified and one unidentified person has been registered under Sections 302, 120 B and 506 and an investigation has been initiated.

In the written complaint furnished to the police, the deceased journalist's mother has stated that SI Sunita Chaurasia was Sooraj's friend and used to come to their house. She has alleged that the department's constable Amar Singh, who was earlier a jeep driver for an Inspector, called Sooraj on his phone on Nov 11.

It has been alleged that Amar Singh allegedly talked in an indecent manner with Sooraj after taking the name of Sunita Chaurasia and also allegedly threatened the journalist over the call.

The complaint further alleges that Sooraj got a call on his phone at 0900 hrs on Nov 12 and the person called him somewhere. After Sooraj left home, his whereabouts remained unknown. His phone also got switched off after he left home.
