With Kamala Harris becoming Vice President in the US and Kerala-born Priyanka Radhakrishnan in New Zealand making it to the new cabinet there, it has become clear that now Indian women also want their share in politics. She does not want to be satisfied with a doctor, engineer, banker, or any other job. It is seen on a large scale for the first time among the Indians who have crossed the seven seas. The Indian woman who first made a special place in politics was Kamala Prasad Bissessar of Trinidad Tobago. She was the first Indian woman to become the head of state of any country. His ancestors traveled from Buxar in Bihar to Trinidad. Kamala Prasad took the oath of Prime Minister in 2009 and took the pledge of Bhagwad Geeta. Basudev Pandey was Prime Minister in Trinidad before him from 1995 to 2001. But with the success of Kamla Ji, crores of Bharatvanshis spread across India or around the world were left alone. Till then, social media was not as strong as it is today.
But Kamala Harris and Priyanka Radhakrishnan will emerge as examples for Indian women. It is also important. After all, why should only Indian men practice politics? The first Indian national head of any country was Chedon Jagan of the Caribbean country of Guyana. Chedi Jagan's father and mother were taken from Uttar Pradesh's Basti district to Guyana. Chedi Jagan was the eldest of 11 siblings. He had closely observed the struggle of Girmitiya. He was elected Prime Minister of Guyana in 1961 and was also its President during 1992–1997. He formed the People's Progressive Party in Guyana. Influenced by him in Guyana, the Indians began to enter politics in a big way. Bharat Jagdev also became President after him. Whites or blacks were doing politics in Trinidad and Guyana before Chedi Jagan became president.
The British used to take a large number of people mainly from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar from 1839 to 1920 to work in sugarcane fields. Some of them returned to their country again, but most settled in a faraway country. In these countries, Shiv Sagar Ram Ghulam (Mauritius), Naveen Ram Ghulam (Mauritius), Vasudev Pandey (Trinidad-Tobago), Mahendra Chaudhary (Fiji), Anirudh Jagannath (Mauritius), Chandrika Prasad Santokhi (Suriname), etc., became the heads of state. But Kamala Prasad Bissessar broke the monopoly rule of men. If seen, it is not very difficult for the people of the above-mentioned countries to become President or Prime Minister, because in all these countries, which can be called Small India or India outside India, the population of Indians is very large.
But Bharatvanshi S. Ranganathan is also becoming President of a country like Singapore. Sugar is about 76 percent in Singapore. Then Malays are also fun. This is not a minor achievement. While discussing Kamala Harris' unprecedented achievement, one thing to be remembered is that a dozen Indians have won elections with them for the state assemblies of America. There are also five women among them. His names are Jennifer Rajkumar (New York), Neema Kulkarni (Kentucky), Kesha Ram (Vermont), Padma Kuppa (Michigan), and Vandana Slater (Washington). Apart from these, four Indian-origin candidates have reached the US House of Representatives. One of them is Pramila Jaipal, a woman. All these results are proving that Indian women are coming into politics openly.
If we talk about Priyanka Radhakrishnan, a minister in the Labor Party Government of New Zealand, then she has also achieved a big achievement. He has got a place in the Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern government. Although people of Indian origin have become MPs in New Zealand, becoming a minister is proving that Ardern has great expectations in them. It is now clear like glass that Indian women will also become heads of different countries of the world in the coming times.
