As it happened: Soft end to strong week as ASX adds 3.5%

Summary

  • ASX sagged by 0.2% on Friday to close at 6405.2, as investors sold out of stocks that benefitted from the Pfizer vaccine rally 
  • The market added 3.5% for the week and remains 8.1% in front for November so far 
  • It was a weak session for the local banks, global miner BHP, travel stocks and REITs. The goldminers, Afterpay, Telstra, James Hardie and Fortescue fared better
  • S&P and Nasdaq futures were narrowly ahead near 4pm AEDT while the Dow E-mini was 0.1% lower
