Chief of Naval Staff visits strategic Car Nicobar and Great Nicobar Islands

Port Blair, Nov 13 (UNI) Admiral Karambir Singh, PVSM, AVSM, ADC, the
Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) visited Andaman Nicobar Islands today.
The CNS arrived at Car Nicobar today and was received by Lt Gen Manoj
Pande, AVSM, VSM, Commander-in-Chief Andaman & Nicobar Command
(CINCAN) and thereafter proceeded to Campbell Bay area of Great
Nicobar.
Great Nicobar is the southernmost territory of India and has naval
station INS Baaz, which is strategically located while Car Nicobar
Island has India’s southernmost Air Force Station.
“He was briefed on the operational preparedness and infrastructure
aspects of the Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) including readiness
levels of the Command in the prevalent security scenario. CNS reviewed
the operational assets of the Command and expressed satisfaction at
the level of readiness,” sources in Andaman and Nicobar Command
informed media today.
During the interaction with troops of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast
Guard, DSC and GREF as well as Defence civilians, CNS complimented all
ranks for their performance and exhorted them to continue the good
work and maintain a high state of alertness and operational readiness in
the prevailing security situation along the Northern borders.
The CNS also advised personnel to take adequate protective measures
against the COVID pandemic, particularly in view of the remote
location, limited medical facilities and challenges of accessibility.
The Chief of Naval Staff conveyed good wishes to the troops and their
families on the occasion of Diwali and distributed sweets to all
ranks.

Kolkata, Nov 13 (UNI) Medical condition of Soumitra Chatterjee now is extremely critical. Today in their 7.30 pm bulletin, Dr Arindam Kar from Belle Vue Clinic said, "We did the tracheostomy for him today and the situation is not that good. His condition has deteriorated. The neurological condition is worst in the entire period of his stay. Consciousness is around 5 on the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) and it has deteriorated in the last 48 hours. We did a CT Scan to find out whether there has been any problem but there has been no bleed.
