5 gangsters held in Ropar, 12 pistols seized

The arrest of five gangsters and seizure of 12 pistols from them has reportedly averted the killing of several people as the accused had got weapons for gangster-terrorist Tejinder Singh, alias Teja.

Sources said Teja, a resident of Nawanshahr and lodged at a Ludhiana jail, had asked the accused to get the weapons for which funding came from abroad. Though Ropar SSP Akhil Chaudhary refused to confirm, sources said the members of a rival gang who had fired bullets at the home of Tja’s brother in the village and a sarpanch were on the target. — TNS
