CHENNAI: The state selection committee will release the ranklist for medical and dental admissions on November 16 and counselling is likely to begin two days later, Tamil Nadu health minister C Vijayabaskar said on Thursday.
“Students can download applications from the state websites (https://tnhealth.tn.gov.in/ and http://tnmedicalselection.net/) and submit the filled-in form online till 5pm on Thursday. In case there are minor corrections, they can send the same to the office of the selection committee,” he said.
So far, more than 34,420 students have applied for the single window counselling.
The selection committee will allot students to the state quota seats in government and all seats in self-financing colleges affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University. The allotment will be based on merit in NEET and 69% rule of reservation.
The selection committee will roll out at least 4,601 seats during the offline counselling this year. Of these, 304 seats in MBBS and 91 seats in BDS will be set aside for students from government schools.
“After several rounds of debate, we decided to conduct counselling offline with adequate social distancing and other pandemic protocols. This will be comfortable for students and will also allow officials to verify nativity and community certificates provided by students,” Vijayabaskar said.
Rank list and information regarding counselling will released on the websites mentioned above. Candidates will also receive SMS messages from the directorate.
